Role
The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for originating and developing residential mortgage loans, including first and second mortgages, home equity loans, and other related mortgage products. Actively generates new mortgage business through outside sales activities, networking, and establishing and maintaining strong relationships with Realtors, referral partners, and community contacts. Promotes the Credit Union's mortgage products and services while identifying opportunities to meet the financial needs of members and prospective members. Attendance is an essential function to performing the duties of this job.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Achieves established monthly and annual mortgage loan production goals through proactive business development, relationship building, and effective management of the mortgage lending pipeline.
Responsible for mortgage loan business development and relationship management with potential members, as well as, real estate brokers, builders, associated trade organizations and community groups. Represents the Credit Union in industry and professional associations, community organizations, local business groups, etc., and promotes the Credit Union's products.
Conducts loan interviews to formalize specific loan requests. Ensures that complete, accurate information and documentation are received from and provided to applicants prior to forwarding the application to the underwriter. Explains loan options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements. Communicate loan decisions and conditions to the member. Provides financial counseling so that a "no" is presented as "not yet". Assists members and potential members with their telephone, text, video, and online requests; answers questions about lending products and services and resolve problems that are within their authority to resolve; refer problems beyond authority, along with recommendations, to supervisor.
Staff community events within the Community, including occasional nights and weekends. This would include but not be limited to events by non-profit organizations, schools, foreign consulates, and chamber organizations.
Prepares required disclosures within 3 days of application. Remains in communication with all borrowers, realtors, and any other associated party, and works closely with other team members from origination through closing of each loan. Ensures loan is documented compliant with TRID, ATR/QM and all other Dodd-Frank regulations.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Performs other related duties as assigned.
